Improving regional economic and environmental activity through sustainable agriculture. The focus remains on nurturing a balanced interplay among ecological preservation, progress in commerce, and societal welfare in Marina Baja. Specialization is evident in cultivating and managing top-tier avocados using regenerative agricultural methods despite the ongoing rural depopulation in "emptied Spain," which in turn, impacts biodiversity conservation and climate change.
the challenge

Cultivating sustainable futures

Bolulla Valley aims to combat depopulation in Marina Baja, Alicante, through sustainable avocado production. Their objective is to create job opportunities and retain local talent, fostering economic activity. Spanning 33 hectares, the project targets over 1 million avocados annually, contributing to regional revitalization efforts.

The goal was to develop an agile digital platform to effectively communicate these objectives, ensuring it is recognizable to the public with an intuitive interface. Simultaneously, the platform needed to be scalable and grant client autonomy—a comprehensive project designed to adapt to evolving requirements. The process involved in effectively representing the value proposition, core values, and the commitment to environmental preservation by employing regenerative agricultural practices.

the role

Eco-design solutions

The project began by collaborating closely with the project manager, the business team, and the CEO to align project objectives, requirements, and expectations. Leveraging the client-provided logo as a reference, the digital brand environment was enriched with vibrant hues, iconography, and typography primed for use in the digital world.

Research: Exploring competitors or similar entities, conducting surveys, interviews, and crafting empathy maps were essential in establishing a robust foundation for shaping the experience and content presentation, thereby ensuring optimal message comprehension (data below).

Key features and user-centric highlights: Enabling diverse content modules along with impactful headlines and monospaced typography greatly enhances accessibility through size and color differentiation, improving comprehension at first glance. Dani Martinez provide technical assistance for Webflow implementation, contributing to the creation of a scalable and easily manageable digital platform.

Learnings and failed paths: Text hierarchy levels were enhanced for clarity, while also avoiding unnecessary wordiness. Testing original brand tones revealed the need for a broader range, leading to a new palette of warm and cool colors inspired by Bolulla's ecosystem. Additionally, special adjustments were made to some modules for the mobile version, ensuring their essence was preserved in a smaller format.

the solution

An avocado triumph story

The launch, completed in 8 weeks with an additional 2 for fine-tuning and implementing a custom CMS, grants clients complete autonomy over future content, styles, images, and modules. This flexibility enables swift updates, potentially leading to modifications post-delivery.

Problems solved: The result showcases high contrast, ensuring clarity and delivering visually striking content. Interchangeable modules, like hero sections and generic content, facilitate easy updates. Moreover, Bolulla's exponential growth in recognition and new product initiatives significantly contributes to regional sustainability and the preservation of rural areas, championing regenerative agriculture.
